Teenage roller skaters turn Columbia gym break-in into bizarre burglary story

Columbia, South Carolina – The Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) apprehended four teenagers for two break-ins at the R1 CrossFit Gym.

These break-ins happened on Saturday, December 23, and Thursday, December 28, at 3400 Forest Drive.

On December 23, deputies went to the gym after a break-in alarm went off. There, they found Hannah Harder and Alexander Clement, both 17, roller skating inside.

The deputies discovered a backpack with tools for breaking in, which belonged to one of the teenagers.

Harder and Clement were arrested for second-degree burglary, taken to jail, and later released on a $15,000 PR bond.

On December 28, another alarm led deputies to Timothy Walden and Kyle Livingston, both 17, in the gym.

After a warning from a K9 unit, Walden and Livingston surrendered and were arrested, also for second-degree burglary.

RCSD reports that, including these incidents, seven people have been arrested for burglaries at this gym in the past month.

Sheriff Lott commented on the situation, saying it’s unfortunate these youths chose to break into the gym, especially during the holiday season. He emphasized that such actions lead to serious consequences like spending time in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and facing the law.
