Florence water service maintenance set to cause interruptions in key areas this week

Florence, South Carolina – This week’s planned water service maintenance may affect the Florence’s water supply in some locations, hence Florence residents should get prepared to deal with expected water service interruptions. The City of Florence announced that repairs will commence at 9:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, along the Old Marion Highway at Ashby Road, and will continue at the same time on Thursday, September 26, at North Williston Road.

Affected consumers may notice brief interruptions in their water delivery or decreased water pressure during these times. This is because new water lines need to be connected to the main lines that are already in place as part of necessary maintenance. This repair is specifically being done in the regions along Old Marion Highway and North Williston Road.

The 30-inch water main at the intersection of Old Marion Highway and Ashby Road will have new water lines integrated into it on Wednesday night. The water main that runs between North Williamson and Old Marion Highway at Ashby Road will need to be temporarily isolated in order to complete this operation. It is recommended that residents and businesses located in the 1500 to 1700 blocks of East Old Marion Highway be prepared for potential drops in water pressure or service disruptions. It is anticipated that normal water service will resume around six hours after maintenance begins.

Maintenance work will be moved to North Williston Road on Thursday night. Contractors will connect additional lines to another piece of the 30-inch main in a manner similar to what should be done the night before. Additionally, a portion of the water main will need to be isolated for this, which might have an impact on the water supply for residents in the 700 to 1800 blocks of North Williston Road. Florence residents should expect service interruptions or fluctuations in water pressure; normal service should resume around six hours after construction starts.
