City of Florence offering on-site interviews for various municipal positions on September 19

Florence, South Carolina – Aiming at increasing local employment and offering notable work incentives to qualified individuals, the City of Florence is preparing for a major hiring campaign. Set to take place in the Pearl Moore Basketball Center, 500 Barnes St., on September 19, 2024, the event promises an array of possibilities across many municipal agencies.

Job seekers will be able to engage in on-site interviews for positions in Athletics & Recreation Administration, Fire, Police, Public Works, and Utilities and others between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The event is meant to expedite the recruiting process so candidates may interact personally with department officials, learn more about the positions, and maybe land one right away.

Diverse opportunities with competitive benefits

The city offers a range of positions with competitive pay scales and complete benefits packages covering State Health and Retirement plans, a Wellness Clinic staffed by a Nurse Practitioner, paid holidays, uniform and equipment policies.

Emphasizing the open roles, the city wants to recruit Class I Police Officers with pay ranging from $45,823.14 to $50,520.00 depending on certification and hours worked. Additionally included with these roles is a $1,500 sign-on incentive should field training go well. Advanced Class III Police Officer positions pay $16.43 per hour for those with an eye toward security and transportation.

Offering $19.98 per hour and a $2,000 recruiting incentive following a six-month performance evaluation, the Sanitation Heavy Equipment Operator is another interesting post. Candidates for this post must hold a current South Carolina Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License and have at least one year of experience operating heavy machinery.
