The South Carolina Research Authority unveils new Greenville office in effort to strengthen the support for local businesses

Greenville, South Carolina – The South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) has once again shown its commitment and dedication to growth by establishing a new office in Greenville, in what appears to be a major step meant to support the local innovation sector. Joining already-existing sites in Charleston, Summerville, Columbia, and Anderson, the relocation marks the seventh facility in the expanding network of the company throughout the state.

This month the newly opened office, located at 411 University Ridge in the center of Greenville, was revealed with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house. This strategic location is likely to be very important for SCRA’s goals of encouraging technological entrepreneurs, funding academic research and development, and meeting industrial demands of South Carolina.

Providing necessary funding and assistance to technology-based companies, academic institutions, and industry leaders, SCRA, a public, nonprofit organization, has been a pillar in driving the state’s innovative scene. The organization’s initiatives are focused on generating better-paying employment and fostering the expansion of these industries by means of strong cooperation and financial support.

For local businesses in Greenville, the existence of SCRA is especially important. A recent news release from SCRA claims that close access to a wide range of support services will help member companies and those in the portfolio of SC Launch Inc., SCRA’s investment affiliate. To direct funds into the local economy, SC Launch Inc. works with angel investment groups, venture capital companies, and other financial organizations.

For its members and portfolio companies, SCRA has made free conference rooms and meeting spaces available, therefore further improving the value of the new Greenville office. Aimed at lowering the running costs on growing businesses, these facilities are matched by further benefits like savings on basic services including health insurance, online and database solutions, and legal and accounting services.

“In addition to providing working and collaboration space for SCRA and SC Launch Inc. staff, SCRA now offers free conference rooms and meeting space for its Member and Portfolio Companies. This is part of SCRA’s recently announced Member Benefits program, which also includes discounts on essential business services such as health insurance, web and database, legal, and accounting services,” SCRA said in a release.

Along with indicating SCRA’s dedication to statewide economic development, this growth into Greenville guarantees strong support for the developing tech and industrial sectors in the area to continue to thrive and grow. With its improved amenities and central location, the new SCRA office is destined to become a major center of innovation for South Carolina.
