Florence mayoral race heats up with Democratic candidates forum hosted by League of Women Voters Florence chapter

Florence, South Carolina – Florence is getting ready for an exciting mayoral contest, with the three Democratic contenders scheduled to take part in a public forum before the primary election in June. At the event, which is being hosted by the Florence chapter of the League of Women Voters Florence chapter, will be newcomer William Williams, Florence City Councilwoman Lethonia Barnes, and incumbent mayor Teresa Myers Ervin.

The forum will take place on June 4 at the Haigh Porter Auditorium, located on the campus of Francis Marion University. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. to the general public who are interested to learn more about the candidates and their platforms. Voters have a perfect opportunity to hear firsthand from candidates running for mayor of their community.

Attendees are encouraged to actively participate by submitting questions to the candidates. Email submissions of questions are accepted through May 31. This guarantees a wide variety of issues and concerns will be covered during the discussion, giving a thorough picture of the goals and positions of each candidate.

Because no Republicans filed before the state’s deadline and all three candidates are Democrats, Florence’s political landscape will be decided by the June 11 primary. With the public forum fast approaching, this looks to be an incredible occasion that will give voters the opportunity to learn more about the candidates and make their best choice.
