Richland County seeks community input on 2024-2025 budget

Columbia, South Carolina – Richland County is inviting the community to give their opinions on its budget for the next fiscal year, which will start on July 1, 2024, and end on June 30, 2025. There will be a public meeting on May 23 at 6 p.m. located in the Council Chambers of the Richland County Administration Building at 2020 Hampton Street, Columbia.

If you want to speak at the meeting, you need to register in advance. Send an email to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on May 21 with your name, email address, and the name of your organization, if any. Please arrive 20 minutes early to check in.

For those unable to attend in person, you can still participate by emailing your written comments to the same address, [email protected]. Make sure to send your comments by the May 21 deadline at 5 p.m. to have them included in the meeting record.

“Residents are welcome to attend the hearing even if they do not sign up to speak,” the County wrote in a press release.

The County is urging residents to look over the proposed Budget Book for the 2025 fiscal year on their website. According to state law, the County must have a balanced budget approved by July 1. There will be a second review of the budget on Thursday, June 6 at 6 p.m., followed by a final review on Tuesday, June 18, during the regular County Council meeting.
