Public voting narrows field to 4 in 3rd Annual Manufacturing Madness contest to select ‘Coolest Thing Made In SC’

Columbia, South Carolina – The 3rd Annual Manufacturing Madness contest, presented by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, has captivated the public’s imagination and engagement. The contest, which highlights the ingenuity and creativity within the state’s manufacturing sector, is now in its final stages as it narrows down to the top 4 finalists, competing for the coveted title of the “Coolest Thing Made in SC.”

Thousands of people voted in this year’s competition during the Top 8 round, which ran from March 11 to March 14. A very impressive number of over 41,000 votes demonstrates the community’s enthusiasm and support for local manufacturers and their innovative products. The votes have been counted, and the final four products competing for the title have been revealed.

The 2024 Top 4 finalists are:

  1. Honda Talon 1000R-4 Fox Live Valve, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. South Carolina Manufacturing, Florence
  2. High Noon Sun Sips, E. & J. Gallo Winery, Chester
  3. Fire Sprinklers, Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co., Inc., Pickens
  4. Signa Hero MRI Scanner, GE HealthCare, Florence

As before, the public is invited to vote for their best finalist as part of this celebration of excellence in manufacturing. Voting is open at scmanufacturingmadness.com, and the anticipation is building as the community waits to see which product will be crowned the “Coolest Thing Made in SC” for 2024. The winner will be named at a ceremony at the Statehouse on March 28. This will be a big day for the manufacturing industry in the state and how it helps with economic growth and new ideas.

The South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance made the Manufacturing Madness contest to show off the state’s industrial successes and help people understand how important the sector is to South Carolina’s economy.

In the last two years, the F-16 Fighting Falcon by Lockheed Martin in Greenville won in 2023 and Steel by Nucor Steel Berkeley in Huger won in 2022. Both of them set a high standard for innovation and excellence in manufacturing.
