LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Only the righteous get to enter Heaven

Heaven is a real place where a real God dwells and where he desires that real people go to spend eternity with Him when their life on this earth is over.

Jesus tells His anxious disciples in John 14:1-3 as He was preparing for His crucifixion: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

The Bible teaches that there are two places to spend eternity, Heaven is one and Hell is the other. Wouldn’t you agree that Heaven is the preferred destination?

We think about going to Heaven after we die, but the truth is we enter into the Kingdom of Heaven while we are living. Jesus says unto His disciples, “Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt. 18:3).”

And in In John 3:5, Jesus says to Nicodemus, “Verily, Verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

To enter Heaven we must enter the way that God has planned. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).”

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. (Mark 1:14-15).”

We enter heaven by repenting of our sin and believing the gospel. The gospel is that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Jesus lived, died, was buried, and has risen from the tomb. When a person is convicted of sin and turns to God in faith the Bible says that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Saved people are called the righteous in the scriptures and only the righteous can enter Heaven.

Heaven is home for those made righteous in Christ Jesus; a place to spend eternity with Him and our loved ones. Hell is a place for the devil and the unrighteous; a place to spend eternity in torment apart from God and our loved ones.

Which do you prefer?
