S.C. is fourth for including dogs in Halloween
With Halloween quickly approaching, I thought our dog lovers might enjoy the results of a Big Heart Pet Brands survey on the top 25 Howl-O-Ween states. Interestingly, South Carolina ranks number four in the states where pet owners dress up their dogs in costume, take their dog trick-or-treating, or include them in a variety of Halloween activities.
Included in the survey is the percentage of South Carolina residents who do the following Halloween activities with their dog:
- Dress up their dog in costume: 46%
- Greet trick-or-treaters at the door with their dog: 54%
- Give their dog extra treats during Halloween: 31%
- Take their dog to doggy parades or gatherings: 16%
- Bring their dog trick-or-treating: 20%
Following is the list of the top 25 Howl-O-ween states:
- New Jersey
- South Carolina
- New York
- West Virginia
- North Carolina
- South Dakota
Big Heart Pet Brands are the makers of Milk-Bone, Pup-Peroni and Milo’s Kitchen. They surveyed 3,000 U.S. dog parents to find the top 25 states that most include their canines in Halloween festivities. According to “Good Housekeeping Magazine,” the 10 most popular costumes for dogs and cats, in order of ranking, are devil, pumpkin, witch, princess, angel, pirate, hot dog, bat, black cat and clown.
