Patriots run at Bulldog Stampede Meet
Sophomore Javier Bustos Jaimes and senior Meagan Wright paced the Francis Marion University men’s and women’s cross country teams to 16th and 20th-place team finishes at Saturday morning’s (Sept. 26) Bulldog Stampede Meet hosted by Wingate University.
Both Patriot squads will return to action on Friday at the USC Aiken Invitational Meet.
On Saturday, Bustos Jaimes completed the 8,000-meter course with a time of 28:33.59 to finish in 72nd place. Other Patriot runners included sophomore Devin Nelson (28:48.07) in 78th position, freshman Carlos Oliver (28:48.14) in 79th, freshman Brandon Boggs (29:08.96) in 93rd, sophomore Jonathon Reid (29:41.42) in 110th, freshman Ben Bigelow (31:17.14) in 151st, freshman Robert Hahn (31:44.00) in 154th, junior Jeremiah Hayes (32:23.22) in 162nd, freshman Joshua Rosario (32:36.17) in 165th, and junior Aaron Robinson (32:57.37) in 168th.
Wright placed 40th after posting a time of 24:44.39 over the 6,000-meter women’s course. Sophomore Jacy Smith finished 117th with a time of 27:31.52, followed by sophomore MacKenzie Arnold (30:16.89) in 150th, freshman Gabrielle Gosnell (30:51.68) in 152nd, junior Nicole Edlmann (33:09.74) in 156th, and freshman Titiana Gore (56:04.16) in 159th.
The University of Mount Olive won the men’s team title, while the host Bulldogs captured the women’s team championship.
