West Rotary to host Spaghetti Supper
The Florence West Rotary Club makes supper simple and quick with its 12th Annual Spaghetti Supper on Thursday, March 17. For $5 per plate, you can pick up as many meals as you like from the drive thru line at Central United Methodist Church, Davis Center, 225 West Cheves Street. Plates include a tasty spaghetti sauce prepared by Presenting Sponsor Wholly Smokin’ on noodles complemented with salad and bread.
All proceeds from this annual benefit help support many local charities as well as Rotary projects. Those projects include providing dictionaries to third graders and RIDD, a drug deterrent program also designed for third graders. Charities that have received assistance from the West Florence Rotarians include Lighthouse, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee, Help 4 Kids, House of Hope of the Pee Dee, Florence Area Literacy Council, YMCA, Florence County Disabilities and Special Needs Foundation, Palmetto Boys State and Palmetto Girls State.
Funds also have supported local Christmas projects. A large portion of the proceeds goes to the CART Fund (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust) which provides funds for cutting edge research to cure Alzheimer’s disease. CART started in 1996 with Rotarians voluntarily emptying their pockets and purses or change at weekly meetings. Today it is the largest program funding beginning research for Alzheimer’s Disease.
In addition to Wholly Smokin,’ the main sponsors for the Florence West Rotary Spaghetti Supper include the Paul Harris Sponsors – H.M. & Pearl Kyle Foundation and McGowan Rogers Law Firm; and the Service Above Self Sponsors – DCB, Efird, Family Neck ad Back Center, and J. David Moss.
