Pawmetto Pack Flyball Club hosting tournament
A Flyball tournament will be hosted by the Pawmetto Pack Flyball Club on Dec. 12-13 at the Eastern Agricultural Fairgrounds, Indoors, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The fairgrounds are located at 5226 E. Palmetto St. Flyball is the sport of relay racing for dogs.
Each dog on a flyball team has to jump four hurdles, trigger a specially designed box causing a ball to be ejected, catch the ball, and return over all four hurdles to the handler. If the dog faults by missing a jump, not triggering the box, or failing to carry the ball all the way past the finish line, the dog will have to rerun at the end of the line, incurring a time penalty for the team.
Four dogs race on a team. Teams race against each other for their standings in the tournament and they race against the clock for points toward titles. Spectator information: The sport of flyball and the Pawmetto Flyball Club look forward to having you come to our tournament.
Safety for competitors and spectators is our priority. While we would love to meet your dog and have him/her learn the sport, please do not bring unentered dogs to the tournament. We will be holding classes where your dog can learn the sport if you find you’re interested after watching the racing.
