No. 14 Limestone places four in the Top-10 at Bearcat Invitational

GREENWOOD – Finishing up its final tournament of the regular season, the nationally 14th-ranked Limestone College women’s golf team surged on the last day of the Bearcat Invitational at The Links at Stoney Point, with a combined 14-over 302 in the second round while a total of four Saints earned a top-10 finish on Tuesday, April 2.

Final results:

•The Blue and Gold posted the best round of the day with a 302 (+14).

•Limestone missed tying for the team win by one stroke with an overall score of 615 (+39).

•Sophomore Ebba Hellman (Ronninge, Sweden) tallied a second-day 74 (+2).

•Senior Reme Cortes (Madrid, Spain) also carded a 74 (+2) in Tuesday’s final round.

•Hellman and Cortes both finished runner-up on the individual leaderboard with a 151 (+7).

•Sophomore Hailey Cleary (Lexington, S.C.) placed in the top-5 with a second-round 75 (+3). She finished fourth overall on the leaderboard with a two-day score of 153 (+9).

•Competing as an individual, sophomore Delanie Mortier (North Charleston, S.C.) collected a top-10 placement with a combined score of 155 (+11).

•Junior Pilar Martinez (Malaga, Spain) finished 16th overall with a 160 (+16).

•Senior Eleonor Skoog (Molnlycke, Sweden) recorded a second-round 78 (+6) to place 24th overall.

•Sophomore Lena Schilowsky (Gloggnitz, Austria) rounded out the tournament with a 166 (+22). Notables:

•Savannah College of Art and Design edged the Saints by one stroke for the team championship.

•SCAD’s Paula Sofia Suarez was the individual medalist with a total score of 147 (+3).

•Hellman and Cortes both ended four strokes behind Suarez on the leaderboard.

•Limestone pulled away from third-place Young Harris by 16 strokes.

Limestone looks to defend its league title when it competes at the Conference Carolinas Championship which started with first-round action on Sunday, April 7.
