Micky Finn’s to open third location

on Tuesday, 15 November 2022. Posted in Local News

Micky Finn’s newest store will be located near the new Buc-ee’s Travel Center off North Williston Rd.

Rick Havekost, owner of Micky Finn’s One Stop Party Shop, announced last week that the business will open a third location on North Williston Road, across from the recently opened Buc-ee’s Travel Center, in the spring of next year.

“We’re extremely excited about this new location,” said Havekost. “It will be our largest location to date. We will have outdoor seating so that you can stop by to eat a Buc-ee's brisket sandwich and shop our beverage warehouse. There will also be parking available for RV’s and boat trailers. We couldn’t have asked for a better location.”

Micky Finn’s currently operates in two Florence locations – on Cashua Drive near Five Points and on Pamplico Highway in Independence Shopping Center. Since opening in 1999, the Five Points location has been one of the top-selling liquor stores in the state.

The idea of opening new locations has been on Havekost’s mind for some time. Earlier this year he was considering the possibility of opening stores in Myrtle Beach and/or Charleston when he was made aware that property near the soon-to-be Buc-ees was available.

Just as he did when he purchased the second location of Micky Finn’s, Havekost called on his dad, Dick Havekost, to walk the property with him and get his opinion on the site’s potential.

The elder Havekost, a retired vice president with Nucor Steel, told his son, “You’d be a fool not to buy it.”

“It wasn’t cheap, that’s for sure,” admits Havekost, “but I’m certain it will be worth the investment.”

Havekost said he had several discussions with representatives from The Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation and Buc-ees to ensure they would have a solid working relationship. He said the deal to acquire the land and build the new store has been all but complete since late spring.

“We’ve sat on it for months, just waiting for the right time to make the announcement,” said Havekost. “We posted it on our Facebook page Monday afternoon and the phone literally hasn’t stopped ringing.’

Havekost said the area on North Williston Rd. near I-95 Exit 170 and Buc-ees is about to see tremendous business growth. He said he is already aware of a new Hilton Hotel and another business that will be relocating to the area. He said he anticipates other big announcements coming very soon.

“You are going to see this area grow at an amazing rate,” said Havekost. “In five years you probably won’t be able to recognize it.”
