Lighthouse Ministries celebrates volunteers
Lighthouse Ministries held a Volunteer Appreciation event last week in recognition of National Volunteer Week. National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger communities and be a force that transforms the world. Each year, Lighthouse shines a light on it volunteers that inspire us to serve, recognizing and thanking them. The event was held outside and enjoyed by all in attendance. Flowers were given to the volunteers in appreciation of their dedication to Lighthouse Ministries and our community. “In 2020 our volunteers donated more than 4,100 hours of their time helping families through their crisis,” said Director Cecilia Meggs. During the event, the 2020 Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Bill Deakin. Lighthouse Ministries is a compassionate nonprofit organization, working to prevent homelessness among the families of Florence County by providing for their basic needs during times of crisis. This work is only made possible by the tremendous support and cooperation of our volunteers, staff, program coordinators, and board of directors in the local community.
