League of Women Voters to host program
The Florence Area League of Women Voters marks 95 years of women’s right to vote with a program on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The meeting will be held at 219 Third Loop Road. David Alford, director of the Florence County Voter Registration and Election Commission, and league members will be on hand from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. to welcome women interested in registering and voting in upcoming elections.
Following a presentation by Alford on the “Photo ID Law,” trained staff will be available to answer questions. Printed registration information will be provided along with refreshments.e “Anyone (male or female) new to Florence County who has not had time yet to register to vote, or who just became of age to vote over the summer months, are invited to help celebrate 95 years of women’s right to vote by registering now,” says Dr. Frances L. Elmore, of the Florence Area LWV board. “Make your parents, grandparents, and teachers proud.”
