Jackson, Braddock victorious in runoffs
Lashonda Nesmith Jackson earned the Democratic nomination for the District 1 seat on the Florence City Council by defeating fellow candidate Joey McMillan in primary runoff held Feb. 9.
In the Republican primary runoff for the Council’s District 3 seat, Bryan Braddock bested Robby Hill.
With the victory, Braddock wins the District 3 seat. No Democratic candidates filed, so Braddock will run unopposed in the March 30 General Election. Nesmith Jackson will face Republican William Schofield.
In the Democratic runoff, Nesmith Jackson received 351, or 59 percent, of the votes to 241 for McMillan. A total of 592 votes were cast.
In the Republican runoff, Braddock finished with 951 votes to just 327 for Hill. Braddock was chosen on 74 percent of the 1,280 ballots cast.
