Golden K Kiwanis donate to F1S elementary schools
The Golden K Kiwanis Club recently presented seven Florence One elementary schools with a check in the amount of $500. The check presentations were made during the Florence One School District’s monthly regular board meeting on Dec. 10.
The Golden K Kiwanis Club has actively supported the children in the Florence community since the club was chartered on March 1, 1988. The club has partnered with seven F1S elementary schools for many years focusing on two different programs: The Bobby Holland Reading Program (Briggs, Delmae, Greenwood), and the H. A. Barrow Terrific Kids Program (Dewey Carter, Savannah Grove, Timrod, and Wallace Greg).
“The ongoing global pandemic has changed a lot of things for everyone,” said Golden K Club President Robby Sisco in presenting the checks. “One thing that has not changed is the Golden K’s commitment to the kids of our community. While we may not be able to follow our usual programs, we wanted to make sure that our seven partner schools know that we still support them. On behalf of our club, and as a former Florence School District 1 student and graduate, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. (Richard) O’Malley and the staff at FS1 as well as the principals, teachers, staff and students at our partner schools.”
