Get ready for a ‘swinging’ good time
Katie Wilcox and Joseph Stein are perfecting an overall back flip for the lively southern swing dance they will perform at the 6th Annual Dancing With The Stars of Florence. The sold-out benefit for the Florence School Foundation will take place on Tuesday evening, March 22. “We’re having a great time,” Katie said at a recent rehearsal.
The pair will dance to Christina Aguilera’s peppy “Candyman.” Katie’s dance experience includes ballet, tap and jazz lessons when she was young, colorguard in school and shagging with her husband, Luke. She loves music and has been playing the harp since age 11. She is the marketing and community development representative at Pee Dee Electric Cooperative Inc. Asked to be a celebrity dancer, Katie was excited although a tad nervous but thought, “You just have to get over it because you’re raising money for a great cause!”
A product of FSD1’s Royall, Moore, Sneed and West Florence schools, she feels anything she can do to give back and further our community is a must. Joseph knew performing with DWTSF would be a fantastic experience, so he jumped at the chance. His dance experience includes dancing in musical productions at the Florence Little Theatre. He has worked as a state tax credit representative for ADP for the past 12 years.
Local celebrities and their professional dance partners will square-off at SiMT Building to compete for one or all trophies. The event will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. and the competition will follow at 7 p.m. This year’s 12 dance couples are:
• Dwayne Brockington and Brandi Williamson
