Florence woman named employee of the month by S.C. Department of Social Services
The South Carolina Department of Social Services’ Employee of the Month program recognizes staff whose work exemplifies our core principles: competence, courage and compassion. Crystal M. Jenkins, a Human Services Coordinator in the Florence Child Support Office, was recently named a September Employee of the Month. “I was super excited and surprised,” she said.
“I was honored to receive the recognition. I am overwhelmed with gratitude.”
Jenkins has been employed with DSS for almost 20 years, and according to her nomination, her customer service and people skills have been an asset to her office and the agency.
“I love being able to help others, especially to help them understand the process of child support,” Jenkins said. “For the most part, we serve clients everyday by providing information and making sure that cases are processed appropriately.”
She currently supervises five other employees, handling concerns from staff and the people her unit serves. Jenkins also coordinates court appearances and work with sister agencies.
“She has a desire to do the right thing, which is demonstrated in the manner in which she handles situations,” her nomination states. “Crystal is not afraid to take the lead in whatever is requested of her.”
Staff selected as part of the Employee of the Month Program are awarded lunch with the acting State Director along with other honorees, a dedicated parking space, a photo and write-up displayed at State Office and a write-up sent to their community newspaper.
