Florence Film Society to screen “The Stranger”
The Florence Film Society will have a screening on Sunday, Aug. 23, of “The Stranger,” a 1946 film directed by Orson Welles. The screening will take place at Lula’s Coffee Shop. Before the movie, they also will host a brief 10-minute play titled, “Flows from It” by Brooke Mogy. Doors will open at 7 p.m. The cost of admission is $2. Coffee will be available for purchase. Funds raised will go towards securing future screenings. The Florence Film Society was founded in October 2013.
The goal is to support and encourage film culture in Florence while building community around that subject. The group hosts bi-monthly film screenings, usually classic or contemporary films which are regarded as important for artistic, social, or cultural reasons. In the past, the group has collaborated with other local businesses, as well as local educators and artists. They look forward to doing more of that.
