Florence Family YMCA holds annual meeting
The Florence Family YMCA swore in a new president and two new board members at its annual meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Past-President Megan Ferguson “passed the gave” to Incoming President Kyle Baxter.
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the Y with responsibility for operational oversight and strategic direction. Board positions are held for a three-year term, and every year some board members complete their terms, while some new members are elected, or previous members are re-elected to fill positions.
Also during the meeting, the YMCA inducted Florence County Councilman Al Bradley into the Florence Family YMCA Hall of Fame for his hard work in fundraising for special projects for the Y.
The Y named Dianne Gibson its Member of the Year. Gibson has been a member of the Florence Family YMCA for 20 years and enjoys the pool the most but also likes Tai Chi, the recumbent bike and the Fit Seniors class.
“I love the members and staff, the weekly scripture posts, the prayers staff do for the Y and personal requests, the community support the Y has for children and so much more,” said Gibson.
