First Baptist Church steeple completed
First Baptist Church celebrated the completion of its steeple restoration project after its evening service on Oct. 4. Congregants gathered on the front lawn for prayer, thanksgiving and to turn on the light inside the steeple.
“It was a powerfully moving moment, recognizing the hard work, patience and financial sacrifices of both church members in the past as well as the present,” commented FBC pastor, Dr. Michael Crawford. “The steeple light shining is more than an indication that a project has been completed, it is a reminder that Jesus is the Light of the world. It is also an exhortation to the members of FBC that just as the steeple light shines brightly each night for all to see, so too are we as followers of Christ to shine the Light of Jesus everywhere we go.”
The project included repairing the middle section of the steeple which features large windows on all four sides. The repairs began in the fall of last year and most of the work was completed in May. However, the windows were not delivered until a few weeks ago and installed early this month.
