Fireball Run rolls into town with block party downtown
Florence is one of eight East Coast cities hosting the Fireball Run, a life-sized trivia game and adventure show, in its ninth season. Teams, including several astronauts and celebrities, are traveling 2,000 miles in cars from Connecticut to Florida to play in the “Space Race”-themed adventure rally. Fireball Run, the epic adventurally (adventure rally), will be filming Wednesday, Sept. 30, and Thursday, Oct. 1, in Florence.
There will be more than 40 teams, including four international astronaut teams, cool performance sports cars and plenty of excitement. Join us downtown on Wednesday, Sept.30, for live music and plenty of entertainment as we welcome the teams into Florence. An after-party will pick up in the Renaissance Courtyard hosted by Wholly Smokin', Dolce Vita, The Library, and 1031 Grill and Taproom.
The adventure show focuses on “tourism attractions and also on economic development because a majority of the teams are made up of the top executives at large corporations,” Holly Beaumier, director or the Florence Convention and Visitors Bureau, told the Morning News. Fireball Run is a 13-episode, unscripted, automotive adventure travel series that chronicles the journey of driving teams as they compete in a legendary eight-day, 2,000-mile life-size trivial pursuit game -- all while aiding to recover America’s Missing Children.
The series centers on eight US drive destinations and integrates area history, culture, points of interest and notable people. The upcoming season adds four international astronaut teams to the 40 driving teams competing in the “Space Race”-themed adventure rally. The astronauts are Capt. Jon McBride of the United States, Cmdr. Rakesh Sharma of India, Lt. Col. Marcos Pontes of Brazil and Gen. Jean-Loup Chretien of France.
