F1S announces academic opportunities

on Tuesday, 04 February 2020. Posted in Good life, News, Education, Local News

Florence 1 Schools recently announced the addition of an IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) at North Vista for children aged 4 to 12. The program nurtures and develops young students as caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning.

Through its inquiry-led, framework, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts.

North Vista will host a PYP informational meeting Thursday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m. All interested parents are encouraged to attend.

For more information, contact Brian Howell at Wilson High School: bhowell@ fsd1.org.

The IB Middle Years and IB Diploma programs, which are regarded as the most comprehensive college preparatory programs in the world, are taught at Williams Middle School for grades 7-8 and Wilson High School for grades 9-12. The applications are found on the Williams Middle and Wilson High websites.

Florence 1 students who are not enrolled at Wilson or Williams can transfer schools in order to participate in the IB Middle Years or IB Diploma programs. Florence 1 provides transportation to Wilson High School and Williams Middle School for these students.

An IB Diploma Program informational meeting for all current and interested parents will be held Feb. 25th at Wilson High School at 6 p.m.

There will also be a parent night for newly accepted MYP students held at the beginning of April at a specific date and time to be announced later.
