DuPont Retirees present checks to charities

The Florence DuPont Retirees Club recently presented checks to four local charities during an event held at Bazen’s Restaurant. Checks in the amount of $1,000 were presented to each of our four supported charities. The Florence DuPont Retirees Club began collecting donations from its membership to help local charity organizations in 2011 and have continued to do so. Over the past twelve years, the club has donated $39,365 to its four charities. In addition to the monetary donations, club members have built 33 wheelchair ramps, mostly in conjunction with Lighthouse Ministries, to allow handicapped individuals to safely access their homes. Shown above, from left to right, are Robert Watson (Florence DuPont retiree), Julie Maxham (House of Hope of the Pee Dee), Brian Lowe (Mercy Medicine Free Clinic), Steve Cox (Florence DuPont retiree), Wayne Wilson (Florence DuPont retiree), Don Wedgeworth (Florence DuPont retiree), and Cecilia Meggs (Lighthouse Ministries). Harvest Hope Food Bank representative Melissa Waddell was unable to attend.
