Bob Bennett to be in concert here
Bob Bennett, guitarist, singer, and songwriter, will be in concert in Florence on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Palmetto Street, and again on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 4 p.m. at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1300 Second Loop Road. The community is invited. Admission is free though donations are appreciated. Bennett will also be a part of the worship services at Highland Park at 9 and 11 a.m. on that Sunday morning.
Bennett is known for his baritone voice, Christian lyrics, and folk-inspired guitar playing. His acoustic folk-style recordings have confronted honestly the messy side of human existence. He has crafted songs that not only celebrate his joys and victories, but also reflect his disappointments, struggles, and failures. Deliberately subjective in his lyrics, Bennett allows listeners to eavesdrop on his personal observations and decide for themselves if the words ring true.
Ultimately, he reaches into hearts, using his abilities to craft language and music to tell the stories inside each of us. Bennett has toured with Amy Grant and Michael Card across our country. His recordings include albums First Things First, Lord of the Past: A Compilation, and Songs from Bright Avenue. Contemporary Christian Music Magazine voted Bennett’s album Matters of the Heart as 1982’s “Album of the Year.”
