Darlington crowns pageant queens
In front of a packed Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School Sonoco Gymnasium, the first-ever Miss Darlington USA and Miss Darlington Teen USA were crowned on Aug. 17.
The new Miss Darlington USA is 20-year-old Karoline Kitchings, a native of Lexington and a student at USC-Aiken.
Kitchings also won the swimsuit and evening gown awards.
First runner-up was Belton native Karen Hawkins and second runner-up was Kingstree native Madalyn Ard.
The new Miss Darlington Teen USA is 16 year-old Sullivan Blackwell, a native of Florence and a student at West Florence High School. Blackwell also won the active wear and evening gown awards.
First runner-up was Lynchburg native Chandler Jordan and second runner-up was Lamar native Addison Windham.
Darlington Mayor Gloria C. Hines offered welcoming remarks to open the pageant. Entertainment was provided by Extreme Cheer and Tumble. The emcee for the pageant was Miss Darlington 2012 Clarka Wickliffe. Wickliffe presented a vocal selection to “Maybe This Time,” from Cabaret.
Miss South Carolina USA MaKenzie Davina and Miss South Carolina Teen USA Allie Richardson were also in attendance.
Presenting sponsors for the event were Pee Dee Auto Sales and the City of Darlington.
Both winners will represent the City of Darlington at the 2020 Miss South Carolina USA and Miss South Carolina Teen USA pageants at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center on November 22-23. The winners of the state pageants will represent South Carolina at the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants
