The United Way of Florence County was honored to be able to present two checks to help support the men and women of the local police department and sheriff’s office after the shooting that occurred on October 3rd. One check for $500 was given to the City of Florence Police Benevolent Fund on Monday, November 5th and a second check for $500 was given to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, November 21st.
“After the tragedy on October 3rd, the United Way of Florence County Board of Directors strongly felt like we had to do something to show our support for these brave men and women who do so much to protect our community every day,” said Board Chair, John Cariati. “Our hope is that these donations help the families of the officers who have passed and continue to help with the recovery of those officers that were injured.”
Donations can be made to the officers through United Way of Florence County either online at www.uwflorence.org/give or at the United Way office at 1621 W. Palmetto Street in Florence. Please note on the donation that you would like the money to go to the officers.
