Taste of Central is Thursday
The Taste of Central, a food tasting event and silent auction, will be held Thursday at Central United Methodist Church.
The doors will open to The Commons from the Irby Street lot at 5:30 p.m. for a preview of the silent auction items. More than 200 items have been donated by local businesses, including clothing, jewelry, gift cards, vacation home stays, car washes, skin care, massage packages, golf packages, gym memberships, original artwork, original woodwork and flowers.
The food tasting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Davis Christian Life Center. It’s a great opportunity for attendees to enjoy all types of food prepared by Central members as well as local restaurants. Some of the restaurants sharing their specialties with us this year are South of Pearl, Coastline, Downtown Southern Funk, Holt Brothers BBQ, Julia Belle’s, Red Lobster, School House BBQ, and Top Hat Special-Teas.
Tickets for the event are $15 in advance and may be purchased at the church office during regular office hours. Checks only (no cash) will be accepted at the church office and should be made payable to ‘CUMC’. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the evening of the event for $20.
Cash as well as checks will be accepted at the door.
All proceeds from this year’s Taste of Central will go toward updating Central’s Wright Spears Fellowship Hall, which is used by multiple church and community groups.
Central United Methodist Church is located at 265 West Cheves St.
