Receives medical degree
CHARLESTON – David Lowell Young of Florence received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, during a ceremony held at the medical school campus on Friday, May 15. He is married to the former Anna Steenerson of Mauldin, and is the son of Bob and Betsy Young of Florence.
Dr. Young earned his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina at Columbia in 2002. After his undergraduate studies, he sang opera professionally until beginning his medical training. During his junior year as a medical student he was selected for membership in Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
AOA is a national honor society for medical students, residents, scientists, and physicians in the United States and Canada. Membership in AOA is one of the highest honors a student is eligible for during medical school. Following graduation, Dr. Young will begin his residency in Otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
