Pee Dee women’s network announces officers

The Pee Dee Business & Professional Women's Network recently announced new officers and board members for 2020-21.

This year’s officers are:


Teresa Johnson Ramey, President
. Ramey is the vice president for regional and community programs at Francis Marion University. As a 31-year veteran in higher education, she has worked at various colleges and universities such as Spelman College, Texas Tech University, Aiken Technical College, Case Western Reserve University, the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), and Jacksonville State University.

At FMU, Ramey was the founder of Leadership FMU, a co-curricular leadership education course, and served as the vice president for student affairs and dean of students.


Sharon Ackerman, Vice President
. Ackerman is a Certified John Maxwell coach, trainer, and speaker. She is a graduate of Chesterfield High School and holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Francis Marion University. She serves as a volunteer board member for Pee Dee Mental Health and the Mental Health Foundation. She is also involved with Helping Florence Flourish.


Joette Dukes, Secretary
. Dukes serves as workforce development director of the Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments. She provides staff support to the Pee Dee Workforce Development Board, whose most visible initiative is SC Works Pee Dee. Dukes has a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of South Carolina and a doctorate in theology from Christian Outreach Bible College.

She is married to Elder Stevie Dukes, Pastor of Lighthouse Way of the Cross Church and is involved in their ministry in many capacities. Additionally, she serves on the boards of a number of non-profit, community, and/or faith-based organizations.


Barbara Black, Membership Coordinator
. Black is the founder and owner of Lydia’s Bowels of Mercy Home (Lydia’s Nest), a non-profit organization. A Johnsonville, Black is married and has four children. She graduated from Johnsonville High School. She holds a degree in nursing from Florence-Darlington Technical College. She is a 2010 graduated from Believer’s Bible Institute in Coward, with a degree in evangelism, and a 2012 graduate of Agape Bible College and Seminary School in Gastonia, N.C. with an honorary doctor of divinity degree. She is a member of St. Michael’s Apostolic Church in Bennettsville.


Brooke Laughridge, Events Coordinator
. Growing up in the Greater Pee Dee area, Laughridge takes great pride in her community. She is a real estate agent with the My Real Estate Group.

“Not only will I guide you through the purchase of your home, but earn your trust in doing business with you every step of the way,” Laughridge said.

Brooke is married and has three children. She is involved with the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Pee Dee Realtor Association and the Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors.


Jesseca Edgerton Bonnoitt, Treasurer
. Bonnoitt as served as the marketing coordinator for the Senior Citizens Association of Florence County for the last five years. She and her husband, Garth, have three children. She is a graduate of Florence-Darlington Technical College with double degree in business and marketing. She has also completed Francis Marion University’s Fred Sheheen Non-Profit Leadership Institute.

The Pee Dee Business and Professional Women’s Network is a group of women who want to network and do business together. This group of women has a diverse range of ages and professional backgrounds.

The group meets once a month for lunch to hear a monthly speaker on a wide variety of topics on business and women’s issues and for great fellowship. Meetings are held at noon on the fourth Thursday of every month at Florence Country Club. The buffet lunch is $15.
