McLeod administrator to chair Pee Dee Heart Walk
Marie Saleeby, Administrator of McLeod Regional Medical Center, will serve as chair for the American Heart Association’s 2017 Pee Dee Heart Walk. Saleeby, who is leading an Executive Leadership Team comprised of 18 Pee Dee professionals, has set an aggressive goal to raise over $300,000 dollars to help prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.
This year’s event will take place downtown Florence on October 21 and welcomes over 2,000 walkers from Pee Dee medical groups, businesses, and local communities to participate.
“McLeod Health has been a long-time supporter of the American Heart Association and I am honored to serve as this year’s chair,” said Saleeby. “It is such a joy to work with an organization that is devoted to making the health of our community better. I look forward to doing my utmost to raise funds and awareness for the good work of the American Heart Association.”
The Pee Dee Heart Walk is an opportunity for people to initiate changes in their health while raising funds to help prevent the No. 1 and No. 5 killers in South Carolina, heart disease and stroke. The annual event is a non-competitive, 3-mile walk in which teams are created by local companies, organizations, and communities.
“I want to challenge all of my friends and colleagues to support this year’s Heart Walk by enlisting their companies and employees to participate,” said Saleeby. “By forming or joining a fundraising team, we can all make a lasting difference in the health and wellbeing of our community.”
This year, as part of the Heart Walk campaign, the American Heart Association is excited to introduce it’s new Healthy For Good platform. Healthy For Good is a revolutionary movement that helps all Americans lead healthier lives by delivering science-based recommendations, tools, tips and motivation to build healthier behaviors.
“The Healthy For Good Campaign was launched this year and was designed to inspire individuals to create lasting change in their health and their life, one small step at a time,” said Sheryl Love, Senior Director of Development with the American Heart Association. “We are excited to introduce this new campaign to the Pee Dee community and know that Marie will be an excellent leader for our organization.”
