Marine Birthday Ball
CAKE CUTTING – The youngest and the oldest Marines participate in the traditional sword cutting of the cake during the Julian D. Dusenbury Detachment 410, Marine Corps League’s Birthday Ball held at the Elk’s Club on Nov. 7.
At left, Benjamin Baxley, youngest Marine, assists Phillip Gibbs, oldest Marine, while Commandant Don Jones looks on. Baxley, a former drill instructor at Parris Island, was the guest speaker and talked about what a Marine is. Nov. 10 marked the 240th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps.
