Lions Club assists local nonprofits
Shown, left to right, are Lions Matt Jones, Audrey Croshaw, and Deborah Sorenson, Lighthouse Ministries CEO Cecilia Meggs, and Sharonda Eagle.

The Florence Evening Lions Club recently answered appeals from Harvest Hope Food Bank, House of Hope of the Pee Dee and Lighthouse Ministries. Provided were 28 jars of peanut butter, laundry detergent for 1,328 loads and 852 diapers to accommodate newborns and infants. These organizations provide needed assistance spiritually, emotionally and physically to deserving citizens in our community. The answering of this call to service is one of many ways the club helps in providing needed service. It truly embodies the motto of Lions Clubs International, which is simply ‘We Serve.’

The Florence Evening Lions Club meets the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Lizard Thicket, 1712 W. Palmetto St. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. For more information or to get involved with the Florence Evening Lions Club, contact Sorenson at (843) 618-0299, or email the club at This email address is being protected from spambots. If you would like to donate towards worthy humanitarian service initiatives, please send to: Lion Audrey Croshaw, 1907 Cypress Road, Florence, S.C. 29505. Make checks payable to: Florence Evening Lions Club Foundation.

One hundred percent of monies received via the public goes back into the community. Contributions made are truly helping Lions provide needed service to deserving citizens in our community.
