Legion Post 1 reelects officers, honors cadets
The Fred H. Sexton American Legion Post 1 held its annual elections on May 14. The existing officer corps was re-elected to their positions and will continue to serve.
Re-elected were Post Commander Kenneth Curran, Post Adjunct Michael Richey, Treasurer Charles Bethea, Judge Advocate William Cheney, Sargeant-at-Arms Carroll Boomer, and Chaplain/Historian Victor Phillips.
Phillips was recognized as the Post 1 Legionnaire of the Year.
The Fred H. Sexton American Legion Post 1 was joined by the Jr. ROTC (Navy) Cadets from South Florence High School on May 17. Post Commander Ken Curran awarded Cadet Toya Canteen the American Legion Military Excellence Medal for her outstanding accomplishments in the program. Cadet Logan Sanders was awarded the American Legion Scholastic Excellence Medal for his outstanding scholastic achievements.
The program recognized all the Jr. ROTC cadets.
