Ladson Hardesty chicken bog benefit sponsored by Cooks for Christ
Ladson (Laddy) Hardesty is a very happy little boy, full of laughter and joy. He loves to play cars and trucks with his five-year-old brother, Zander. His mother, Nikki Milligan, is a first-year veterinarian with Windsor Animal Hospital of Florence. His dad, James Hardesty, is a stay at home dad due to Ladson’s medical issues. Ladson is a couple of days shy of two years old. At birth he was diagnosed with Ebstein’s Anomaly, a heart condition where the tricuspid valve does not function properly. Since birth, he has been hospitalized numerous times at McLeod and MUSC. Recently Ladson was admitted to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and a procedure was performed to repair the right ventricle, which did not move blood as it should. This surgery was performed on January 18.
While in Mayo, the procedure highlighted the fact that the left ventricle was as damaged as the right ventricle. Since his hospitalization in January, he has undergone eight surgeries. Unfortunately, Laddy’s heart did not function without life support until March 18. He is now under sedation on a ventilator until his right lung functions at full capacity. His two-week stay has turned into two months with an unknown amount of time ahead. While there, Laddy’s mom fell on the ice, breaking her tibia and fibula and underwent immediate surgery. This of course added more financial strain to the family. Cooks for Christ is raising funds to help with medical bills and travel expenses.
