FLT to present ‘Don’t Dress for Dinner’

Florence Little Theatre’s production of “Don't Dress for Dinner” will open an eight-day run beginning Friday and continuing through March 14.

The production is being directed by Larry Chewning and was written by Marc Camoletti. It was adapted for the stage by Robin Hawdon. The show, underwritten by Armstrong Wealth Management Group, is recommended for ages 15 and older, as there is some adult language and situations.

Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening, except for a Sunday matinee at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, and $15 for student with ID. Tickets may be purchased online at www.florencelittletheatre.org/shows, by calling (843) 662-3731, or at the FLT box office.

The plot of the play has Bernard planning a romantic weekend with his chic mistress in his charming converted farmhouse, while his wife, Jacqueline, is away. Bernard has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights and has invited his best friend, Robert, along too to provide the alibi.

It's foolproof, right? What could possibly go wrong? Well, suppose Robert turns up not realizing quite why he has been invited. Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers, and consequently determined that Jacqueline will not leave for the weekend. Suppose the cook has to pretend to be the mistress and the mistress is unable to cook. Suppose everyone's alibi gets confused with everyone else's.

An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed. “Don't Dress for Dinner” is an affair you don’t want to miss.
