Vacant seats at several universities

The College and University Trustee Screening Commission is accepting letters of intent to begin screening and qualifying candidates for the following vacant seats:

Francis Marion University

5th Congressional District – seat 5 - term expires June 30, 2018

Medical University of South Carolina

7th Congressional District - medical seat - term expires June 30, 2020

– candidate must be a healthcare professional

University of South Carolina

14th Judicial Circuit - term expires June 30, 2020

– candidate must reside in either Allendale, Hampton, Colleton, Jasper or Beaufort counties

Winthrop University

4th Congressional District

- seat 4 - term expires June 30, 2022

It is required by law that any person who wishes to offer as a candidate for a board position must notify the Screening Commission in writing of his/her intent to offer for the specific seat. For seats designated as congressional district seats or judicial circuit seats candidates must reside in that district. For purposes of this commission – residence is determined by driver’s license, voter registration, payment of 4% personal property tax and income tax filing.

The deadline for receiving letters of intent is Monday, July 31, 2017 at noon.

The letter of intent must be hand delivered to the Commission Office - 213 Gressette Building in Columbia - no later than noon on July 31, 2017. The letter of intent must contain name, home address, telephone number and email address for the candidate. Incomplete letters will not be accepted.
