Two Florence robotics teams qualify for state competition
NORTH VISTA TIGERBOTS RECEIVE JUDGES AWARD

Four Florence one robotics team competed at the Pee Dee Area Qualifier of the First Lego League Challenge competition held at Darlington Middle School. Each school team received recognition and two Florence One teams qualified to compete at the state level competition. Qualifying for state competition this year are the North Vista Elementary School Tigerbots and the Williams Middle School Bengalbots.

The North Vista Tigerbots, coached by Casey Moyer Caswell, received the Judges Award and the Williams Middle Bengalbots, coached by Paula Werner, received the Champions Award. The state competition will be held on Feb. 13 at Carolina Forest High School, Myrtle Beach. Sneed Middle Recyclers received first place in research and the Delmae Elementary Robo Recyclers received first place in robot design along with second place in robot table performance.

Sneed Recyclers are coached by Kimberly Alexander and Lynn Howard. The Delmae Robo Recyclers are coached by Shawn Hoehn. The ultimate goal of the teams is to take part in the National 2015 First Lego League Trash Trek competition which challenges students to think like scientists and engineers to choose and solve a real world trash problem from collection, to sorting, to smart production and reuse.
