ORANGEBURG – The South Carolina Independent School Association recently sponsored a workshop to help staffs of member schools become mentor teachers. Jennifer Towler, a member of the faculty at The King’s Academy, Florence, participated in the one-day training program. Larry K. Watt, SCISA executive director, said, “Mentor teachers are at the core of effective schools. SCISA has been offering this training for over 25 years. We are very proud of this year’s class.” The South Carolina Independent School Association is a non-profit, voluntary association of over 110 independent schools serving more than 37,000 teachers and students. Founded in 1965, the State of South Carolina incorporated SCISA as an exclusively educational organization with the responsibilities of establishing accreditation standards, coordinating academic and athletic competition and providing professional development for member organizations.
