School District 1 taking apps for Montessori programs
Florence School District One encourages parents to complete applications for the Montessori programs for McLaurin Elementary School and North Vista Elementary School beginning Feb. 2, during regular school hours. Applications will be accepted until Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. Final acceptance notices will be mailed to parents on or before March 24. A parent information meeting will be held at North Vista Elementary School on February 1st at 6 p.m.
A parent information meeting will be held at McLaurin Elementary School on February 1st at 6:30 p.m. Applications will be available at the meeting for children who will be four years old by Sept. 1, 2016. All children living within Florence School District One may apply to attend. This program is a part of the South Carolina Child Development Education Program. Parents must present a birth certificate and a Medicaid card (if applicable) with the child’s application.
Children must also be screened by the Office of School Readiness to be considered for the program. Limited positions may be available for children who will be five by September 1, 2016. Parents may choose the school that students will attend; however, if children do not attend the school for which they are zoned, parents must provide transportation.
