School bells ring again this Thursday

Florence School District 1 teachers and staff will welcome students back to school this Thursday, Aug. 17.

Students at Delmae Heights Elementary, with classes for kindergarten through fourth grade, will be entering a brand new school.

“We are very eager to finally get in here,” commented third grade teacher Lauren Thompson.

Blazely Young, also a third grade teacher, echoed Mrs. Thompson’s sentiments, noting the new school is equipped with upgraded technology which includes smart boards, Chromebooks for all students, as well as many more labs.

“It’s pretty insane,” she said, adding the new school offers students the ability to get more advanced technology.

Principal Roy Ann Jolley is thrilled with the new school.

“I am so excited,” she said. “We have the freshness of a new school but comfortable in knowing even though its a brand new building we are taking what we had in old Delmae and bringing the same feeling to our new school.”
