The Florence County Library System will welcome Porkchop Productions for Summer Reading 2018. This year’s theme, “Libraries Rock!,” encourages children to discover the world through reading.

Summer Reading 2018 is funded by ACS Technologies, Advanced Dental Center, Allstate Insurance (Andy Jeffords), Blue Cross Blue Shield, Duke Energy Foundation, Friends of Florence County Library, Ideal Funeral Parlor Inc., Jebaily Law Firm, Jerry’s Air Conditioning and Heating, Koppers, Dr. Stephen McKay, Drs. Moss and Sang, Nan Ya Plastics, Nationwide: Hodge Ethridge Insurance and Finance LLC, Orthodontic Specialist Dr. Arazie, Palmetto First Federal Credit Union, Parham Law Firm LLC, Mike Reichenbach Volkswagen/ Ford, Ruiz Foods, the South Carolina State Library & Institute of Museum and Library Service, Springhill Suites by Marriott, Jim Stewart (State Farm), Toledo Carolina Inc., and Willcox, Buyck & Williams, P. A.

Through their generous efforts, special programming designed to educate, entertain, and inspire children will be held system-wide, in keeping with the library system’s mission to promote literacy in Florence County.

Founded in 1991, Porkchop Productions is a professional theatre company specializing in audience participation performances. This year, they will perform “RAPunzel”. A bored princess, her overprotective mother, a rapping narrator, an awe-struck Prince, and endless “bad hair” days highlight this one-of-a-kind adaptation that reinforces the idea that letting someone go means letting someone grow!
