Library ready for summer reading programs

on Tuesday, 09 June 2015. Posted in Education

The Florence County Library System will welcome Melvil Dewey Library Hip Hop for Summer Reading 2015. This year’s theme, “Every Hero has Story!” seeks to discover the world of reading. International Library Hip Hop Superstar Melvil Dewey advocates reading and teaching children about the importance of libraries. Complete with book turntables, a rapping book mark and golden library cards, this high-energy hip hop artist empowers children to speak up for their library and encourages them to become lifelong readers.

The show will be at the Florence County Library on Wednesday, June 10, at 3 p.m. Summer Reading 2015 is funded by The Friends of Florence County Library System, FBi Construction, Andy Jeffords (Allstate Insurance Company), Golden K. Kiwanis, Koppers, Dr. D. Moss, Nan Ya Plastics, Nationwide: Hodge, Ethridge Insurance and Finance LLC, the South Carolina State Library & Institute of Museum and Library Service, Ben Stephens (Allstate Insurance Company), State Farm: Jim Stewart, Target, Walmart and Willcox, Buyck, & Williams. Through their generous efforts, special programming designed to educate, entertain and inspire children will be held system-wide in keeping with the library system’s mission to promote literacy in Florence County.
