Discovery Education leaders attend training workshop
Florence School District One kicked off a partnership with Discovery Education at a reception to introduce the 36 educators and their administrators from nine elementary and middle schools at the Performing Arts Center on the evening of Jan. 6. Upon their arrival, the teachers were welcomed to the cheers of Sneed Middle School and music by the Wilson High School Band.
The following morning, these teachers representing the Discovery Education’s Digital Leader Corps, participated in a workshop to prepare them to design and implement successful and innovative teaching strategies to be shared with their peers. The teacher-leaders will serve as change agents powering the district’s digital transition. This comprehensive digital service will supplement instruction across all K-12 curricular areas.
This new partnership supports elements of Florence School District One’s Technology/Device Pilot Implementation Plan for 2015-2016. Guiding the creation of modern digital learning environments in the district’s 25 schools, this plan employs a variety of strategies, including a 1:1 digital device initiative; ubiquitous access to digital content and resources; redesigned classrooms; and ongoing, job-embedded professional development for educators to create engaging, relevant learning experiences that empower students to reach their full potential.
