How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice. Nine string students from Florence spent time preparing for a concert at one of the world’s most famous music halls: Carnegie Hall. Performers chosen by international auditions came together in New York City for several days of rehearsals with renowned conductors leading up to their life-changing performance at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. Three students were also chosen for a summer concert at the renowned Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia.

Students performing the Carnegie weekend are Evan Tan, Justin Tan, Kathryn Barber, Mrinal Badiger, Simran Singh, Rebecca Liu, Stephanie Dersch, Nav Singh and Anish Jonah. Students selected for the Sydney Opera House concert this summer are Simran Singhn, Nav Singh and Isabella Ouyang. The performers attend Wilson High School under the direction of orchestra teacher Mark Jackson and Florence Christian School under the direction of orchestra director Megan Kendall. They are the private students of Dr. Sherry Woods (violin/ viola) and Dr. Julia Krebs (cello).
