Music, holiday village display welcome visitors to McLeod
Alonzo Davis, above, performs holiday music on the McLeod Regional Medical Center concourse for patients, visitors and staff as part of ‘Joyful Sounds of the Seasons.’ The Department of Volunteer Services at McLeod Regional Medical Center arranged for musicians from the community to entertain staff and visitors with “Joyful Sounds of the Season” during the month of December. Local performers participating were Shelley Westfall, Jim Hepler, Alonzo Davis, Linda LeMaster, Nancy Granath, Susan Hiltibidal’s music students, Robin Thompson, Cole Davis, Grace Myers, and students of the Florence Piano Teachers Association. The Grand Piano being played by many of the local musicians was donated by Dr. Andrew Rhea in memory of his son, William Rhea.
Also, George Stoddard, a resident of Darlington and long-time patient of Dr. Parker Lilly of McLeod Family Medicine Darlington, made the season a little brighter for younger patients at McLeod Children’s Hospital with Christmas village displays from his personal collection like the one shown below.
The nurses station and playroom were adorned with beautiful village scenes to bring a smile to patients’ faces. Every child received a Christmas village house upon discharge from the hospital. McLeod Health extends its appreciation to Mr. Stoddard for making Christmas just a little more special for the young patients of McLeod Children’s Hospital.
