FLT curtain to rise on ‘Dreamgirls’

The Florence Little Theatre’s production of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical “Dreamgirls” will light up the stage for a nine-day run Jan. 24 though Feb. 1.

The production will be directed by Cole Davis.

Book and Lyrics are by Tom Eyen; Music by Henry Kriege. Tickets are $30 for adult, $25 for senior (62 and over), and $18 for students and children.

The recommended minimum age is 12, as performances contain some adult language.

“Dreamgirls” was a huge it on Broadway before becoming a Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning film. The show celebrates the advent of R&B in the 1960s with a Motown-inspired score, dynamic performances, and a moving look behind-the-scenes of the entertainment business. Experience all the onstage joy and backstage drama as an up-and-coming girl group learns hard lessons about love, trust, and what it takes to get to the top. Meet The Dreams - Effie, Lorrell and Deena - three talented young singers in the turbulent 1960s, a revolutionary time in American music history.

With an extraordinary story and unforgettable, spine-tingling vocals, this spectacular musical production soars with the classic songs, “And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going”, “I Am Changing”, “Listen”, and “One Night Only.”
