on Tuesday, 23 October 2018. Posted in News, Arts & Culture, Local News

The Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library’s Morris Gallery hosted an opening reception for a new exhibit by artist Robert Garey. The exhibit will run through December 2.

Mr. Garey, a Florence native, is a painter and muralist. He began painting and exhibiting his art in the 1970s. His instruction in the atelier style of painting came in 1989 as a student at the New York Academy of Figurative Art, a late career project of artist Andy Warhol.

Notable examples of his work include the murals he created for the former Clay Pot Coffee Shop. He is currently completing a large painting for the new judicial center which depicts a series of events in the history of the Pee Dee region. He also teaches figure drawing at Francis Marion University. Past exhibitions include a 2017 show at the Florence County Museum’s Waters Gallery. His exhibit will be a retrospective of paintings and drawings over the past 25 years.

The Doctor N. Lee Morris Gallery is located on the second floor of the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library in Florence.
